Module 1: Evaluation Explained
This half day workshop introduces participants to the various topics and
issues that will be examined in the IPAA Evaluation Training Program
(comprising of five modules). It has been developed with a view to
helping participants gain an understanding of what evaluation is, why it
is important, and an appreciation of the key steps and issues involved
in initiating, managing and conducting an evaluation project.
The workshop also overviews: the relationship between evaluation and
performance monitoring; data collection methods; evaluation and
performance auditing – the links; and evaluation and contract
management, including outsourced evaluations. This interactive
workshop has a practical emphasis and includes the use of case scenarios
and syndicate exercises. Module 1 provides the foundation for the
remaining modules and, as such, it is recommended that participants new
to evaluation attend this module before attending later modules.
