Module 3: Data Collection and Analysis - the Options
This
half day workshop has been developed with a view to helping participants
gain an understanding of data collection considerations and key methods
within the context of an evaluation project. Module 2 – Managing and
Conducting Evaluations, examined the key considerations in planning
and designing an evaluation, including the linkages between the
evaluation purpose, terms of reference, evaluation questions and data
collection methods. This workshop builds on Module 2, by
exploring the broad range of data collection methods (and their
strengths and limitations) and considerations in data method selection,
management and analysis. The workshop includes an examination of a
sample of data collection methods often used in evaluations, including
surveys, interviews, focus groups and the application of existing
information. This interactive workshop has a practical emphasis and
includes the use of case scenarios and syndicate exercises. As Module
2 facilitates an understanding of the evaluation context, it is strongly
recommended that participants attend Module 2 prior to attending Module
3.
